Monthly Rotation Objectives

PGY1

  • Understand basics of Qpath (worksheets, submitting for QA, deleting images, splitting studies)
  • Proficiency in most frequently used applications: eFAST, pelvic (transabdominal and transvaginal for early pregnancy), renal, IVC, basic cardiac, abscess/cellulitis
    • see minimal image criteria and emergency ultrasound core vs advanced skills documents(below) for clarification of each application
  • Proficiency in procedural applications of ultrasound: PIV access, CVL access, paracentesis/thoracentesis, LP
  • Understand basic ultrasound physics and concepts such as gain, depth, artifacts; be able to utilize these concepts to improve your images

PGY2

  • Ability to utilize ultrasound to help work up patients with undifferentiated hypotension
  • Ability to utilize ultrasound to help work up patients with undifferentiated dyspnea
  • Proficiency in applications necessary for first 2 objectives  (including more advanced cardiac, thoracic, IVC, aorta)
  • Proficiency in other core/advanced applications: gallbladder, DVT, ocular
  • Ability to teach/supervise PGY1s in vascular access, pelvic ultrasound, and eFAST
